CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program for foster children in Sacramento County gives their children pillowcases every year at a holiday party in December. Last year CASA asked us to make 200 pillowcases for them, and our members stepped up by making over 400!! They were given to Placer County foster children too, since we had such a supply.

In the same spirit, we’ll make CASA pillowcases again this year, but will start a bit earlier! You can help by culling your fabric stash for 42-45 inch widecotton pieces that are three to four, ten and 27 inches long. There is no need to coordinate fabrics, or cut them. Turn the pieces in at the Neighborhood Group meetings or call Roberta Hopkins and she’ll make arrangements to get them from you. A few volunteers and Roberta will make up the pillowcase kits and have them at the Spring Event May 16 and at the Annual Meeting in the fall. Stash donations will help defray the Chapter’s expense for purchasing the fabric for pillowcases for the Sacramento, Nevada, Placer, and Butte Counties.

Of course, you can make a case from your stash if you like! The cases have a ribbon drawstring so they can double as a duffel bag. Thanks for your help!
