Community Service Projects

ASG National Sponsored

The host city for the annual National Conference picks a community service project for the whole organization to work on during the year. For the 2007 Conference, which was in Sacramento, CA, our chapter chose unisex pajamas and t-shirts to be given to Shriners Hospital for Children - Northern California.

The Shriners Hospital for Children at 2425 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, is one of 20 in the country and provides treatment for burns, spinal cord injuries, and orthopedic disabilities, as well as research and teaching for health care professionals about these disabilities or injuries. All care and treatment from this hospital is free -- the hospital operates solely on donations.

As a result of ASG members across the nation, Shriners has been given more than 4100 clothing items.

ASG-Sacramento President Ellen Alexander (right) and Shriners Director of Public Relations, Catherine Curran, show off some of the garments made for hospitalized children.

Below and right, Pat Stilwell counts donated items. Pat was the ASG-Sacramento chair for the project.
