ASG Sacramento Chapter SPRING EVENT – THE PIXELADIES
Friends for over thirty years, the Pixeladies, Deb Cashatt and Kris Sazaki, have been collaborating since 2003 as artists, authors, and teachers creating art quilts and custom designed scarves. Although Deb and Kris create locally, their scarves and quilts have been juried into national and international exhibits. They teach quilting and Photoshop online and at guilds. The Pixeladies guarantee programs full of fun, inspiration and information. For more information and to see examples of their work, visit their website at www.pixeladies.com.
We have scheduled the Pixeladies to join us in June to provide a not one, not two, but THREE terrific programs. The schedule of programs begins on Friday, June 1, 2012 with a hands-on workshop to create Free Lace Scarves. On Saturday, the ladies will return to share more wisdom and techniques with a morning presentation on enhancing sewing projects with computers. We’ll break for lunch to enjoy an Italian Buffet, and then, continue in the afternoon with a presentation on fabric folding that will provide another opportunity for hands-on participation. Check out the descriptions below, go to one or both.
Friday, June 1 2012, Free Lace Scarves- 4 Hour Workshop
Have some extra ribbon and trim? Need an excuse to buy that one skein of fantastic yarn? We will cut up silk scarves and sew them back together using Mokuba Free Lace, ribbon, yarn, and trims. Turn an everyday scarf into wearable art. We will practice the beautiful narrow hand-rolled hem and learn some fun ways to tie a scarf. Check your local thrift stores for silk scarves at great values. Limited to 20 participants.

Saturday Morning, June 2, 2012, Aack! There’s a Computer in My Studio! -
Come along on a virtual tour of the Pixeladies’ studio computer as we explain how we use the computer to enhance our art and sewing projects. We will show how we download patterns from the Internet, organize our patterns using Adobe Photoshop Elements, and create fabric for our clothes, scarves, and quilts. There’ll be a fashion show, too! Every Pixeladies project revolves around telling a story, so we use a variety of techniques to tell that story. Not to worry, we’ll have some fun little breaks during this presentation!
Saturday Afternoon, June 2, 2012, Fun with Fabric Folding -
Don’t you wish you could do something else with all that stash fabric instead of sew, sew, sew? Learn how to take a square of fabric and wrap bottles, boxes, books, and more! We’ll also transform that square of fabric into a couple of bags. The Japanese call it furoshiki - we call it fun! This is a hands-on demonstration, so please come prepared with the following if you want to wrap along with us:
