Bus Trip to San Francisco

Our chapter is heading to San Francisco. The trip will be a little different than the usual fabric shopping spree. We will leave the Macy’s parking lot at 3500 El Camino, Sacramento, CA at 7:30 a.m. After a quick stop in Davis to pick up trip participants, we will head to the de Young Museum in San Francisco to see an exhibit of Yves Saint Laurent’s work.
In the 1960s Yves Saint Laurent made an indelible mark on fashion with clothing emblematic of the new modernity. The
Yves Saint Laurent exhibition explores the designs that made Saint Laurent famous. It contains nearly 130 accessorized garments and sketches illustrating the lines, colors, and fundamentals of Saint Laurent’s work. The de Young Museum is the only U.S. venue for this exhibition. We have arranged for a docent to provide a tour of the exhibit.
In the afternoon (around 12:30 pm) we will spend a couple hours at Stone Mountain and Daughters in Berkeley, one of everyone’s favorite bay area fabric stores. Several restaurants can be found near the store. You will have time to have lunch and shop to your hearts content. At 3:00 p.m. we will load up the bus and head back to Sacramento, returning at approximately 5 p.m.
The fee for this bus trip is $45.00 for ASG members and $60 for non-members (includes the $17.00 exhibit entrance fee). This should be a popular trip so sign-up early. Registration ends on January 16, 2009. For more information contact Carol Fordice, 916-239-5905.
