Fabric Donations

Fabric related donations are greatly appreciated and help the Chapter support its community service projects, fashion scholarships, and educational endeavors. Donations are accepted year-round.

Besides fabric, we take notions, patterns, and needlework (crochet, knitting, embroidery, etc.) items.
We are unable to accept mothballed fabrics, books, magazines, sewing machine furniture, machine attachments, or non-textile materials like scrapbooking and craft paint.

The drop off/pick up geographic areas covered by the Chapter are listed below.

To send an email, click on your location and provide the following information to the donation coordinator for your area.
  • City or geographic area you live in
  • Type of items to be donated
  • Approximate number of boxes or bags to be donated
  • The time frame for the donation drop off / pick up

Sewing Machine Donations

The Sacramento Chapter of the American Sewing Guild welcomes the donation of used sewing machines.  Donated sewing machines are typically given to women of Wellspring Women’s Center upon completion of the on-site ASG sewing program.

We ask that machine donations be:

  • In good working order
  • Include the machine’s foot pedal and power cord
  • Include at least one foot
  • Be no older than about 20 years

Machines can be dropped off at Wellspring Women’s Center
3414 4th Avenue
Sacramento
Between 9:30 and 11:00

It may be possible to make other arrangements to deliver machines or arrange pickup.

We do not accept machines in cabinets or vintage machines.

We recommend listing your vintage machines and/or cabinets on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, or consider a donation to a thrift shop.

Thank you for considering a donation to the Sacramento Chapter of the American Sewing Guild
